Dostal Ride Rating System

A Good for beginners, not technical, waits for slower riders. Slower riders set the pace.
B Some riding skills required, some smooth single track or some pace lining, waits for slower riders. Social pace.
C More technical riding with single track and some drops. Experienced riders, requires pace lining. Faster social pace. Will wait for slower riders.
D Expert skills required, technical single track or fast pace lining skills required. No obligation to wait for slower riders.

Terrain

1 Generally flat = the Bottoms or Ossegon trail
2 Easy grades a few hills = Fieldbrook or Murray Rd trail
3 Rolling Hills = Westhaven to Patrick's Point, Community Forest
4 Harder Hills = Murray or Scales hill, top of Community Forest
5 Hillmania = Kneeland or Butler Valley, Tish Tang or Grass Hopper Peak trails
6 Unbelievable = the Wall or Fickle Hill, Couch trail

So what does all this mean? Well an 'A1' ride would be the slowest pace ( family ) and the flattest terrain while a 'D6' would be a brutally fast hill climb that would kill all but the heartiest of riders ( sounds like fun eh ). The numbers after the letter number combo would be mileage while the M or the R would stand for Mountain bike or Road ride.

So to put it all together an A1R20 ride would be a road ride on flat terrain at a family pace
for 20 miles.
